Green Scene

Announced today...................French buying of the green. L'Oreal, the French cosmetic giant has announced that it is to buy The Body Shop for 940 million euros. Your lipstick may never be tested on animals again. Green, according to the Irish legend, attracts fairies and help crops. The seamróg (meaning summer plant) or Shamrock as we know it symbolises the birth of springtime. It became an emblem of rebellion and the "wearing of the green" was punishable...death by hanging put a dampers on things for a while . Well, whatever, if you're Anita Roddick, want to attract some fairies, help the garden grow or just have a hoot. Happy St Patrick's Day, I'm sure there will be a few sore heads in the morning.....Keep the faith!

It's so last week!

Paris Fashion Week We can't resist gossiping about Miu Miu's latest show in Paris - full of structure and gloriously wearable new trends. Skin is pasty, lips are red, skirts are a decent length - here is fashion that anyone can get away with, whether you've got an Oscars invite or not! This Week We're Mostly Complaining About... .... Madonna telling Lourdes that she kissed Britney to transfer her pop powers. Come on, Mrs Ritchie. Couldn't you think of anything better? We're not looking forward to her next children's book...... The way our new Spring shoes (flat pumps, btw) aren't coping with the English Spring weather. We're having to wear our gorgeous red ballet pumps indoors. Nicole Richie doesn't have this problem. Wellies, anyone?

Smoke Screen

So for those last remaining ones stuck with the filthy habit yesterday was probably a good indication to you that if you survived National No-Smoking Day without a single puff, you can now stop forever and move to Scotland where the air is cleaner. “Whit you aw aboot?” Sunday 26th March sees the enclosed public places ban in Scotland come into effect. Actor Brian Cox and TV presenters Lorraine Kelly and Gail Porter backed the ban. Hundreds of actors and musicians supported the arguments against a ban, including Antony Worrall Thompson, artist David Hockney and musician Joe Jackson. A letter appearing in The Times voiced opposition to smoking bans and was signed by a host of celebrities including Sir Bob Geldof and Sir Stephen Fry. We're still awaiting comment from Rab C Nesbitt. For the time being those remaining few still addicted to the dreaded weed it's business as usual south of the border. Or is it? Will Worrall Thomson win a share of Gordon Ramsay's clientele as "smoking restaurant?" or "non-smoking restaurant?" becomes a question you ask your dinner guests rather than the restaurant asking your table preference? And when entire countries implement their bans? Well, I guess we'll all be off to France!
