Monica Bellucci fit to judge

"My body is so important to me... my face, my arms, my legs, my hands, my eyes, everything. I use everything I have." -Monica Bellucci She made her film debut in 1990, in Vita coi figli and Briganti (a.k.a Bandits: Love and Liberty). We remember her best for her role in the 1996 film, L'Appartement, which earned her many acting accolades, including a Cesar nomination (French equivalent of the Oscar) in the Most Promising Young Actress category. When asked most people seem to remember her as Persephone in the sequels to 1999's The Matrix: The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Monica is on the celebrity judging panel at Cannes this year....and we must say she looked stunning last night in her shiny-shimmering long black dress.

Ryan spotting

What can you do? You send out a request to the entire world for pictures of Tom's baby Suri and what do you get? More Ryan Ostler sightings, this time from a weekend shopping trip with a mystery brunette. Come on guys we know you can do better than that, great picture of Ryan but he's not with the girl in the picture he's merely walking behind her. We now have it on good authority that Ryan is busy with his new line coming out soon, far too busy to be worried about who he is or isn't dating, and furthermore we hear he's a great guy.....If you've ever been lucky enough to have had him sign your Ostler hoodie you'll know what we mean...and judging by the amount of emails we are getting he's pretty damn popular.

Uma & Pamela gossip

Having 5 feet 11 inches and 35C-24-35 measurements would please a great many women (and a lot of men!), but not Uma Thurman revealing recently "I was always physically insecure, big feet, too tall, not coordinated, or together." We say most women. Many thanks to the reader sending us the photo of Pamela Anderson (if you could airbrush in a bit more blouse we'll publish it!), Anderson was encouraging her fans to stop eating meat in recognition of National Orgasm Day, which takes place on May 14th each year in the United States, her web-site backs this up stating "For your best orgasm ever, go vegetarian." Forget Hollywood gossip, we just print the facts!

Cannes 2006

The reaction to last nights pre-premiere screening of The Da Vinci Code for international movie critics was tepid to say the least. One source claimed the response from the press was largely negative, another claimed loud laughter during one of the main scenes. Stephen Schaefer from the Boston Herald said: "Nothing really works. It's not suspenseful*. It's not romantic. It's certainly not fun." *Even my American spell-checker had a problem with that one! The Da Vinci Code Eurostar train safely delivered the film's cast and director to Cannes last night. The 59th Cannes Film Festival officially began a few hours ago with the world premiere of The Da Vinci Code. The Festival de Cannes has now officially started with The Da Vinci Code crew leading the way up the red carpet, Tom Hanks stopped and made a gesture to the thousands of spectators to follow them. Then came the official Cannes jury, with Wong Kar Wai in front and Zhang Ziyi, Monica Bellucci classically dressed in a sparkling long black dress, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth and Helena Bonham Carter alongside, together with Patrice Leconte, Elia Suleiman and Lucrecia Martel. The celebrity hungry crowd were also able to catch a brief glimpse of Sidney Poitier before he officially opened the ceremony with his well received speech "Before you, in a place impregnated with an atmosphere which so many geniuses have known, it is an inestimable privilege to welcome the motion-picture generation of today and tomorrow. Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great respect that I hereby declare the 59th Festival de Cannes open."

Cannes Fashion

Stunning strapless turquoise gown, see-through dress, T-shirt and jeans, a beautiful gold Cinderella dress, shaven head, gorgeous dresses, red carpet, svelte blonde cover girl, brunette roots, gorgeous spaghetti-strapped number, sedu hairdo, updo, token blonde starlet, gold satin number, beautiful beaded pink dress, hippy-ish hairdo. What will they be wearing this year?

Cannes Fashion Gossip - So last year.....

As millions of fashion conscious trend-hunters were scouring the web, forums and anything e-entertainment related in search of the best websites for Hollywood gossip news, Natalie Portman surprised the world when she turned up at Cannes last year with a shaven head....whilst the rest of us were still trying to figure out what a "Sedu" hairstyle was! Upon being quizzed about the show-stopping style Natalie said "Some people will think I'm a neo-Nazi or that I have cancer or I'm a lesbian. After all the crazy hairstyles I had to endure for the films, it's quite liberating to have no hair." A devoted fan commented "She is the most beautiful bald woman on earth, I hope she will be bald for the rest of her life." We guess that Natalie will not be able to please all of her fans all of the time!

Best critic - The Da Vinci Code

Who best to ask what they think of a film than the lead actor. Tom Hanks seemed to play down the film when interviewed by the London Evening Standard, referring to it as "a good story not to be taken too seriously," perhaps his comments were more aimed at the Roman Catholic community to ensure they are not missing when it comes to box office takings. A senior Vatican official, Archbishop Angelo Amato, called for a boycott of the film, describing the book as "stridently anti-Christian." Watch the film and you'll understand! So first the Da Vinci Code book, then the Quest online game, then the film, now the train....yes the Da Vinci Code train left Waterloo station this morning on it's way to Cannes. Eurostar chairman Guillaume Pepy, Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou , Sir Ian McKellen, director Ron Howard and author Dan Brown got together to unveil the latest part of the film's promotional 'brand-wagon' by way of a co-branded Eurostar train. If you think it stops there think again, after the celebrities have had their fun you'll be able to book "The Da Vinci Adventure" travelling on The Da Vinci Code Train, visit the Louvre Museum and join a treasure hunt to win 200,000 Euros....Da Vinci Code hotel rooms thrown in as part of the package....actually sounds like a lot of fun! Anyway back on track - Two days after the world premier the French police have indicated that they intend to go on strike outside the Palais des Festivals, headquarters of the Cannes International Film Festival, although we are led to believe that the strike has nothing to do with the festival, it is more to do with "working conditions".........heat, celebrities, Hollywood gossip, parties etc. The Da Vinci Code premiers on Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival......yikes that's tomorrow.

Hollywood Fashion Gossip

Ostler echo Ecko.............or is it the other way around? According to one source "Ryan Ostler and ex New York graffiti artist, Mark Ecko (ECKO, unlimited) fall in the same category of being young, male, innovative and trend setting." If you are in the US you will more than likely be familiar with at least one of these names, and we are hedging our bets that it's Ecko, if not you may have heard of his world famous Rhino brand. "Fashion goes out of fashion, but the need to be fashionable never does..." Marc Ecko, designer, artist and entrepreneur. Ecko seems to be the epicenter of the youth culture marketplace. The Rhino brand apparently evolved from just six t-shirts and a can of spray paint, the Ecko powerhouse has now become a full-scale global fashion and lifestyle company with numerous partnerships including Playboy, the NFL, Jimi Hendrix, Marvel Comics, and Bruce Lee. For those not so familiar Ecko covers the hip-hop, skate/extreme sport and designer fashion markets, footwear, leather goods, gloves, outerwear, underwear, bags and a women's collection. Ecko recently developed a cosmetics line, a magazine (Complex), collections for children and a Jackass style retail TV channel (eckoTV) where customers are being asked to provide the content. Did we lose all track of the headline? Not really, we've been following a lead on Ryan Ostler, considered one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, but so far all we can churn up is a long list of what he's not doing, seeing, launching, selling, losing, dating. He's even announced that he'll be limiting the number of retailers that want to sell the latest Ostler Adrenaline range, but when we see the Ostler Ecko reference in the same sentence we have to wonder if Mr Ostler is acting on his own behalf as his own press agent and doing a pretty poor job of it. Whilst Mr Ecko's track record speaks very well for itself. BTW well done Marc. Guess this is one piece of Hollywood gossip that we could do with a few new leads on.....Did he eat in the Italian at the weekend, who was the girl with him, what's he up to now, any volunteers? No, no thanks... not you Ryan! If you are in the US you'll probably be familiar with the Rhino brand and ecko unltd, for those in the UK you'll find ecko unltd stores in Croydon and Manchester. He also has stores in Italy, Brasil and Germany along with distributors throughout the world. And as for the Ostler Adrenaline brand of cutting edge extreme threads....we're still looking! Any bets on which one of the above will turn up at Cannes?

Posh Birthday

It's well over a month since Victoria Beckham celebrated her 32nd birthday, the indigestion should have by now died down, according to one newspaper Posh and Becks were to eat "Japanese food cooked by top chefs who have been flown out from London's restaurant Nobu." it went on to describe the 11-course, £200-a-head menu "including seared salmon salad, lobster tails served in a martini glass, grilled sea bass, seared steak, exotic fruits and sorbets." How very Japanese! However, what seems to have stuck in some peoples throats is the £8million Bulgari (BVLGARI) necklace, an exact copy of the one Keira Knightley wore to the last Oscars. One seething comment from a Hollywood celebrity gossip board at the weekend read " .....we don't hear about any otheHollywoodod celeb splashing or showing off to that extent, even the richest of them. The Beckhams have a lot to learn from Bill Gates who does not stop at giving away horrendous amounts of money to charity..." Well my dear, in our books The Beckhams are not (yet!) Hollywood celebs and Bill Gates does not play football....although he might for charity! News just in.........A gift bag containing Christian Dior shoes, sunglasses, handbags and perfume was taken from outside Kathy Hilton's home, Paris Hilton had sent the gifts for Mother's Day but unfortunately a passenger in a passing car found them outside her mothers gate first. Apparently the package contained nearly $10,000 worth of Dior. We think it must have been quite a size.
