Those sing-along TV shows are getting worse. It’s not so much that the desperate never-have-been contestants can’t sing but more the outfits they sport. The words ‘showbiz’ and ‘Primark’ clearly don’t mix. But at Glamour:oke, there isn’t a stitch of shiny, flab-grabbing, B.O.-inducing acrylic in sight. Run by club supremo Charlotte Cutler and TV personality Nick Ede, this karaoke requires your chicest outfit. Whether you fancy a James Blunt lullaby or a full-on Whitney warbler, there’s an eclectic mix of songs to choose from — and some classic celebrity guest judges to tell you how you’re doing. (Can you beat Russell Grant and Anne Diamond for sheer glamour?) Don’t worry if your singing isn’t up to Eurovision standards, after copious cocktails you’ll be ready to grab the diamond-encrusted mic and do your thing.
