Obi - Beyond 3D Movies

"Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars; now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person; but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I've placed information vital to the survival of the rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope."

Dear Princess Leia, fear not!

Rumour has it that scientists have taken a big step forward enabling them to display live video in 3 dimensions. A technology which is far beyond 3-D movies as we know them and more like being in the actual "Star Wars" scene from above.

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace could be hitting the big screen, or whatever media is required to deliver a "totally immersive" production in 2012.

More Obi stuff
Could be the original Obi - a sash for traditional Japanese dress, keikogi worn for Japanese martial arts and as a part of kimono outfits.

Another Obi - The Ontology for Biomedical Investigations (OBI) project is developing an integrated ontology for the description of life-science and clinical investigations. (interesting!)

On another note, Ob is a leading brand of tampon in Germany.

Nothing to do with the science of 3D advancement...but now you know!
